12. Guillaume Delisle & Academie der Wetenschappen te Petersburg, Klein Tartaryën met de Turksche Provintiën grenzende aan de Zwarte en Azofsche-Zeën. Buiksloot: Gebroeders Baalde, 1783. COLLBN Port 164 N 118
The Vaderlandsche Courant was printed in Buiksloot since 1781 and appeared three times a week. It stood out for its detailed maps. Over time, this patriotic newspaper paid less and less attention to foreign news and after the Orange Restoration in 1787, all patriotic newspapers were banned. Occasionally special editions were released like this copy of July 30, 1783. Its map shows Little Tartary with the Turkish provinces bordering the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The cause for this special number was the annexation of the Crimea and 'Cubans Tartarye' by Empress Catherine the Great. This newspaper printed the tsarina's manifesto in its entirety. She justifies her conquest in order to maintain peace and good order in the neighbouring regions.
