This online exhibition is the result of a collaboration by Marrik Bellen, Leslie Boon, Doris Jedamski, Joke Leijfeldt, Jef Schaeps, Roger Tol and Erik Weber. It was put online in April 2025.

All photographs, letters and other items belong to the collections of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV), on loan to Leiden University Libraries since 2014. The modern images of Kartini’s tomb, as well as the images of modern editions of her letters, have been harvested from the internet. Kartini’s letters can be found in the catalogue of Leiden University Libraries under Accession Number D H 1200.
