Hodeidah - wells

< >

Description

Water was one of the main concerns of travellers and traders in the region. The Yemeni government wanted Flieringa to investigate the water systems in the city and draw up a renovation plan. Flieringa’s first step was to examine the existing water wells. Flieringa’s ideas for Hodeidah’s modernization faced many obstacles. This included financial difficulties. The Imam did not have the funds for the modernization of Hodeidah. As a result, Flieringa’s suggestions were not implemented.
